Kim West, called The Sleep Lady by the families she works with, has coached thousands of tired parents. West believes that some infants and children are not born good sleepers but also firmly believes these children can learn to become great sleepers. West has developed an alternative, effective approach to helping children learn to put themselves to sleep without letting them “cry it out” – an option that is not comfortable for many parents.
Her gentle technique, which she calls the Sleep Lady Shuffle, helps parents teach their children to put themselves to sleep. The Shuffle involves staying with the child while they learn to sleep, gradually moving away from the crib or bed and out of the room.
West’s technique and her philosophy which encourages parents to trust their instincts and be true to their own parenting styles sets her apart from other experts on sleep.
